Book Bloggers Are The Shit

There, I said it. Book bloggers are the shit. But most of us already knew that. They take the time to read and post about our books, and they do it all for the love of reading, for no compensation whatsoever. They have lives of their own. They have families and friends and a lot of other shit they could be doing besides reading our books and spreading the word about them, but that’s exactly what they do because they love books.

I cannot tell you how overwhelmed I was by the participation from the book bloggers who posted during my Love in the City Series Tour last week. I will forever be thankful for each and every one of you who took the time to help me out. Like I said, you have tons of other things you could’ve been doing that are way more important than me, so the fact that you took a chance on my books and you helped spread the word about them by posting reviews and promotional posts on your blogs, your Facebook pages, and/or your Twitter timelines, truly means the world to me. Your honesty in your reviews and feedback continuously molds the writer in me.

With that said, I hope you know that I’m always here for you, too. I really do believe that we should support one another, and that goes beyond just donating to your giveaways whenever you hit a milestone (though I don’t mind donating so please feel free to ask). What I mean is, I know some of you were ill or had family emergencies or other things going on in your lives, and I appreciate you taking the time to message me and let me know why you couldn’t post on the day you signed up and that your post was going to be delayed. Life happens, and I completely understand and want you to know that you can always message me for support. I just hope you know that you could never disappoint me or let me down. You’ve willingly gave me your support, and I’m here to give you mine right back. Some of you messaged me in regards to the subject matter of my books, relating to the same issues my characters go through, and I thank you for sharing your story with me. The whole idea behind my books and my characters’ stories is to raise awareness, and by sharing your own stories and spreading the word about my books, you’re doing just that. So, thank you for being awesome, for raising awareness, for encouraging others to read and sharing your love for books, and for simply being yourself. I look forward to getting to know each of you better in the future!

Pleasured By You Teaser + Seven 11 Blog Hop

Seven 11 blog hop

Hey everyone,

It’s that time again! Today marks our third Seven 11 Blog Hop, and I hope you’re all enjoying our posts! I decided to pick seven lines from my WIP (work-in-progress) for this month’s blog hop. Unlike the previous hops, these seven lines have not been edited, so they are more than likely going to change. But here’s your first glimpse into the mind of Bayler Jennings! She’s a lot different than Elly and Harper, and I’ve been having a blast writing her and Fletcher’s story! Pleasured By You (Love in the City, #3) …

Please add Pleasured By You (Love in the City, #3) to your Goodreads to-be-read list if you haven’t already! I don’t have a release date yet, and it will be awhile before I do, but once I have one, you’ll be the first to know!

In other new, Novel Grounds’ Semi Annual Literary Awards are opened for voting from now until Sunday night Hawaii Standard Time! Wanted By You (Love in the City, #1) has been nominated in four categories: Best Supporting Character, Most Laughs, Best Plot Twist, and Best Breakout Novel! Click the icon below to head to the site to cast your votes, and be sure to share with your fellow book lovers! Seven 11 Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Seven 11 blog hopWho’s ready for a Fantasized By You teaser!? It’s that time again! The Seven 11 Blog Hop is on the go, a hop where a group of authors post seven lines from one of their books, and today I’m featuring Fantasized By You (Love in the City, #2)! Here are your seven lines:

“You’re gonna tell me one of your fantasies?”
“Yes, and then you’re gonna tell me yours.”
“Okay, let’s hear it.” I smiled, completely mesmerized by the idea. Just knowing he had fantasies made me all gooey inside.
“Hmm, all right, let’s see,” he said, dipping his fingers into the waistband of my panties. “Since the day we met in my office, I keep having this fantasy where you walk into my office and lock the door. You’re wearing high heels and a long coat, but underneath, all you have on is this lace.”

Seven 11 blog hop

Blog Hop, Hooray!

I’ve been tagged in this fun author blog hop by the amazing Amanda Aksel, author of The Man Test, which I absolutely loved! I’m so happy to call her a friend and can’t wait for more books from her! Thanks, girl!

So, here’s to keeping the hop alive with my interview:

1) What am I working on?

I’m currently working on the second book in my Love in the City series, Fantasized By You. The series is about a group of friends trying to find love in the city, and each book is about a different couple. The first book in the series, Wanted By You, released at the end of February, and I’m hoping to have book two out in the summer of 2014!

2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?

In my Love in the City series, every book has a love story and a message of awareness. The covers of the books will be a different color representing an awareness referenced in each book. I think it’s important to not only tell a great love story, but also share a meaningful message along with it. That’s what I hope my work achieves.

3) Why do I write what I do?

This quote by Cyril Connolly sums up why I write: “Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.” I write because writing is something I have to do. I have these voices in my head begging me to tell their story, and I enjoy doing so. When I read, I’m constantly falling in love with the secondary characters along with the main characters, so I love book series where the secondary characters get their own story. I’m a sucker for series and sequels, so you’ll probably never see a standalone from me. I write what I love to read.

4) How does your writing process work?

Outlining is a must for me. I’m not one of those writers who can just sit down and let the voices in my head do the writing. I’m super organized and have notes about each of the books in my series on my computer, my email, a notebook, the notes app on my iPhone, etc. I need peace and quiet to write, and I usually write in bed. I also make a playlist for each book that I listen to when I’m not writing. So, when I take my dog on a walk or work out, I’ll listen to songs that go along with my story or my characters. I feel like that’s a way to stay in “writing mode” even when I’m not actually writing.

To continue the blog hop, I’m tagging three authors (I couldn’t pick just two)…

Elle Jefferson (author of At Death It Begins series), JC Emery (author of Bayonet Scars series), and Katrina Vore (author of The Dark Lotus series)! Tag, you’re it! I can’t wait to meet you girls in Phoenix next year at the Indie Mashup signing!
