Take A Moment

I’m so excited to share that I’ve added two more signings to my 2015 schedule! I can’t wait to meet all of you, the readers, as well as the other authors attending the events!

Little Rock Book Jam in Little Rock, Arkansas

littlerock

Since I’ve watched way too many episodes of Cold Case Files and Dateline and 48 Hours or anything Bill Kurtis narrates, I think I’m more than equipped to travel to new places. I’ve barely been out of Kansas, but I know what to look for, I know what questions to ask and what to avoid.

With that being said, I want to know what I should visit in Washington, D.C. and Little Rock while I’m there. I know of a few places I want to go in our nation’s capital, like the Holocaust Museum, but besides that, where else should I go?

And all I know about Arkansas is that it comes after Arizona in the 50 States song and Little Rock is its capital, and I can tell you a lot about the West Memphis Three murders. But that’s all I’ve got.

So, what’s there? What should I visit in Washington, D.C. and Little Rock? Help a sista out by commenting with some suggestions!

P.S. – I promise I’m not as weird as this post made me out to be.

The Barn Burner & Rockstar

The barn burner and I are coming to Tulsa!

I am so excited to announce that I’ll be attending the
Hard Rock Author Event in May 2015 hosted by Southern Belle Book Blog and Hilary Storm!

Prepare to be rocked by this killer lineup of authors:

And the models will have you saying…

So, join me and the other rockstar authors in May 2015, and we will rock this shit together!

P.S. I hope none of us come across any flying cows!

A Dream Come True

I’m officially a published author.

How do I know this?

1. Two bloggers made teasers for my book.

2. Another blogger included GIFs in her review.

3. You can find me on Amazon, iBooks, and Barnes & Noble.

4. I found jellyfish pirating my book.

At first, I was pissed. I still am pissed because my book is $3.99! You can’t even get a meal at a fast food restaurant for that cheap anymore. So, the fact that people have to steal my book because they can’t “afford” it pisses me off.

With that being said, screw all those damn jellyfish! I know I have loyal readers out there who have bought the book because they’ve messaged me about it. They’ve left a review for it. They’ve asked me when book two is coming out. They actually care. So, thank you, to all of you who are loyal readers, who love the written word enough to spend your hard earned money on the things you love instead of being a cheap-ass jellyfish!

Since publishing Wanted By You last week, things have been a little crazy but incredibly fun! I’ve loved getting to meet people from all over the world, from here in the US to the UK and Australia; it’s been mind-blowingly awesome and I can’t wait to meet more of you!

Another thing: fangirling. I’m so used to being a fangirl myself, I can’t even wrap my head around having others fangirling over me and my book. I will never get used to that. I love reading and writing so much that I could talk about books all day. So, whether I’m reading a message from someone saying they loved the book or I’m reading a review, I’m right there with them fangirling over every little thing because I’m just as excited as they are about the book and for me to finish writing book two! So, if you want to talk about my book or the Love in the City series with me, shoot me a message or comment here on my website. I love talking about books!

I’ve also loved reading honest feedback from you, the readers, because it’s helping me better myself as a writer. Right now as I read through reviews, I’m figuring out what readers love about my writing and what I need to work on. So please, keep the reviews coming! I also have some treats to share with all of you once I get more reviews:

  • When I get 50 reviews, I’ll post the Wanted By You soundtrack (37 songs)!
  • When I get 100 reviews, I’ll post the Polyvore boards (aka the clothes) from Wanted By You!
  • When I get 125 reviews, I’ll post some extras from Wanted By You, e.g., all 28 items from the Bucket List Countdown and other goodies!

So, if you haven’t left a review for Wanted By You yet, please consider doing so! I’d love you for it! Plus, I know you secretly want these extras as much as I’m dying to share them with you!

Again, thank you to everyone who hasn’t been a jellyfish, who’s bought a copy of my book and supported me from the very beginning. Becoming a published writer has been a dream come true for me, and I’m incredibly honored that so many of you are ready for more from me.

Love Machine

It’s true. I’m just a love machine and I won’t work for nobody but you.

I loved writing every bit of Wanted By You. Like want-to-make-a-career-out-of-writing loved it. And the messages I’ve already received from a few readers wanting more from me makes me incredibly happy because I love, love, love writing! So, I’m more than ready to keep on keepin’ on for you guys!

A few days ago, I got to see a paperback version of my book! I cannot explain the awesomeness that went into holding it for the first time. It was amazing and surreal and exciting all at the same time. It’s so beautiful! I can’t wait to see other people holding it and reading it!

I also have bookmarks, postcards and pens as well as some cute necklaces from Etsy that go along with the book! So, be sure to join my release day event on Facebook to enter to win some pretty book swag and other prizes on release day and throughout the blog tour!

Since I love you all and there’s only *THREE MORE DAYS* until release day, I’ve decided to share another song off Wanted By You‘s playlist. If this doesn’t make your Monday 100X better, I don’t know what will.

ICYMI: Release Date

1781376_577018979050490_445024806_n

That’s right. Thursday, February 27th, Wanted By You releases!

Mark your calendars for the cover reveal on February 13th! It’s absolutely beautiful! I can’t wait to share it with you!

So, to celebrate, let’s share a song from the Wanted By You playlist. This is Never by Moving Pictures, and I love the chorus of this song:

Inspirations

I thought I’d share with you all some of my inspirations for writing.

The first is definitely music. I have a ton of music on my iTunes in all sorts of a genres and will be creating playlists for each of my books for the readers to fully understand what inspired each one and some of the characters. They are definitely more upbeat than other playlists I’ve seen from other authors. There’s a reason for this. I don’t listen to music while I write. If I did, it would be a disaster. Trust me, I’ve tried it. I know a lot of authors who do this and major kudos to them because I physically and mentally do not have the ability to do it. However, I do listen to music during my workouts or when I’m walking my dog so I’m constantly finding music that inspires my writing or my characters, and I think that’s really important to the story and important to share with the readers.

The second is poetry. I found a girl by the name of Charlotte Scott who creates the most beautiful poems. I actually spent weeks hunting down her blog because someone posted one of her poems on Pinterest and didn’t tag her blog (so irritating). Anyways, I feel like most of my characters can relate to her poems or their love story can relate to it. I also feel like most of my readers will be able to appreciate her work and how the beauty of her words incorporates into my characters and their story. I’ve asked her if I can use her poems at the beginning of each book in the series and she was more than happy to let me publish her work in my own. This is also a really great way to promote her and her talent and I’m happy to do so. It’s important that writers promote one another and I’m more than thrilled to share her work in my books since she’s been such a huge inspiration to me and my characters.

The third inspiration would be my fellow writers. I’ve become friends with several writers through Facebook and Twitter and the support from them has been amazing and I know I’ll never be able to thank them enough for it. Jamie McGuire has amazing self-publishing information on her FAQ page on her website that is extremely helpful. A special shout out to Jennifer Probst as well because without her and her feedback I don’t think I would’ve ever started this series. Her thumbs up was the boost I really needed and if I ever meet her in real life, I’ll probably go bananas. I’m extremely grateful to other authors for taking the time to help us aspiring authors with our questions as well as just promoting one another. The endless love for indie writers and/or self-published authors is amazing, and I’m happy that I’ve chosen this path.

Write on my fellow writers, write on!
