I know, I know, you’re probably asking yourself, “What the hell has Steph been up to? It’s been a year since she’s released a book!”

Have no fear . . . I’m currently working on the sixth Love in the City, Inspired By You, which is Max and Whitley’s story. (Cash WILL get a story . . . the best is always save for last!) I’ve also been plotting stories for my next series, as well as working on audiobooks of the first five Love in the City books. So, I promise I AM working on book stuff!

I’m also getting ready for my next book signing in Oklahoma City on November 11th! The line up is so amazing, and I’ve never been to OKC before, so I’m doubly excited to attend! So, if you’re in the area, please consider getting tickets because I’d love to meet you! For more information about the event, please join the Route 66 Author Event – Attendees Group on Facebook by clicking here!

Happy Labor Day Weekend . . . aka: Here’s to another day you get to read instead of going to work!

New Release + Signings

I’m so excited to announce that Shaded With Love Volume 2 is now available on Amazon and all proceeds will go to St. Jude’s! The pages that Jessica designed for each of us involved look absolutely amazing, so you do not want to miss out on this coloring book! Spend hours relaxing while you color the day away! And what’s even more exciting: it’s already a #1 best-seller on Amazon!

Be sure to like the Shaded With Love Facebook Page because lots of takeovers have already be going on throughout release day and will continue into this evening, which means lots of giveaways! I wasn’t able to participate as I worked all day and the evening time slots were spoken for already, but don’t let that deter you from participating in the release day party on the page! It’s sure to be a blast!

Next, I promised you signing talk! I recently had back-to-back signings these past two weekends in March, and I had a wonderful time at both! First, I was in Kansas City for Kinky in KC 2017, where I was able to meet the wonderful Laurelin Paige! She’s one of my favorite authors, and just getting to talk shop with her in regards to writing and book covers was a dream come true. If you haven’t read her books yet or had an opportunity to meet her, I highly recommend it! Thia Finn sat near me, and she was so entertaining throughout the day; I hope I get to see her again at another signing in the future! It was also fun being able to actually DRIVE to a book signing! Kansas City is only four hours away from my hometown, so it was nice not having to worry about flying and packing all my books and swag a certain way to make it all fit! I’m definitely looking forward to KIKC in 2018!

My second signing took place in Raleigh, North Carolina for the Authors in the City event! The list of amazing people I met there is endless! I started off by meeting some bloggers and authors, some that were new to me, some that I’ve been friends with for months, and they were so friendly and fun, I’m thankful to have finally met them in person! Stephanie and all her gals at Stephanie’s Book Reports put on an amazingly, well-organized event that I’m so grateful they gave me the opportunity to attend or else I wouldn’t have made the connections with the authors and readers that I did! Isabelle Peterson has the most bubbly personality I’ve ever seen and I absolutely love her for it; she can bring a smile to your face no matter what! Samantha Chase has the best swag (i.e. chiclet gum in the small rectangular boxes with her book covers on the outside so they look like tiny books! GENIUS!) I met a fellow author and ginger, Rachel Lacey, and I’m so excited to read her books; definitely check them out if you haven’t yet. Sidonia Rose and Mr. Sidonia Rose were an absolute joy to sit across from, and it’s been awesome following them to each of the same three signings we’ve all been to this year. And…you guys, I finally got to meet Sawyer Bennett and she even knew who I was when I introduced myself. I could have died right there. She’s one of the women in this industry that I seriously look up to, and it was wonderful to finally meet her in person. She’s been so supportive of my writing career, donating to my release day parties and allowing me to takeover in her Facebook group. I definitely crossed off a bucket list item when I got to hug her! Fingers crossed I get to attend AITC 2018!

But the absolute best part of book signings: meeting all the readers! Your love and passion for reading brings me joy unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. I love getting to talk books with you and connecting with you over our mutual love of reading. I love watching as you meet your favorite author in person and the elation that comes over you, because I’ve experienced that too (see above comment about Sawyer Bennett and several others)! I love putting faces to names I’ve seen here on my website or on Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram, and getting to know you on an all new level, even if we’re not discussing books. I love that even if you haven’t read my books, you’re willing to listen to me tell you about them and possibly check them out in the future. I love that you stop at my table just to tell me you love my book covers. I love that you share your book blogger information, because I truly do want to follow you everywhere and include you in everything I do because if it weren’t for book bloggers, I wouldn’t even be attending book signings. So, you, the reader, make these events the true magic that they are, and I thank each and every one of you who attends! If you haven’t been able to attend a book signing, I highly recommend that you do. You will meet people who are just like you, who love to read just as much as you do, and you will love it!

With that all being said, I’m also so happy to be home. I’m done traveling for the year which means my sole focus can be on writing more books! I’m taking a small break to relax and catch up on some reading, and then I’ll be writing my little heart out like crazy for the rest of the year in hopes of getting the last two Love in the City books in your hands, where they deserve to be!

I think that’s all for now! I hope you check out the authors I’ve mentioned above if you haven’t already, and don’t forget to grab the #1 best-selling coloring book on Amazon, Shaded With Love Volume 2!

Happy reading (and coloring)!

xo,

Steph

I know you’re probably wondering what I’ve been up, and sadly I can’t say it’s been writing tons of books, though I have been working on Whitley and Max’s story (yes, they’re next, and Cash’s story is last…you know the saying, saving the best for last!) I’ve moved into a different place, and I’m happy to say that Gunner and I have adjusted nicely and we’re loving it! I’ve also been busy with my family and friends during the holidays. I had a brother get married in Mexico (this ginger is never going there again) as well as all the normal holidays. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year (gah! I’ve been gone too long, never again, I swear!). Again, sorry!

I also had my first book signing of 2017 in Maryland at the Rebels Hit the Road event! It was a blast getting to meet so many readers and hang out with my team of editors and fellow authors! Casey Peeler has the best accent ever, so much so that I found myself trying to mimic her (I love it)! It was also so incredibly nice to catch up with Trudy Stiles (I hadn’t seen her since NYC)! I fangirled hard too. First off, Debra Anastasia turned me into a rotten carrot top with one of her maxi pads (she ran out of the color orange), but I felt like framing it anyway because it’s Debra Freaking Anastasia. So I returned the favor by giving her a paperback of Pleasured By You that I screwed up while signing books for a reader (so Debra Anastasia has Fletcher now: fangirl). Then Jennifer Armentrout and I bumped into each other when we were getting together to take our author group picture before the signing. I may have swore to myself to never wash my right shoulder in case her awesome writing vibes transferred over to me during said run-in. I’m sure she doesn’t remember it at all but I do; that’s all that matters right? Ha! Like I said, total fangirl moment!

We also went to see Fifty Shades Darker while in Maryland and it was AMAZING! I’m currently jamming to the FSD soundtrack while I write this post. If you haven’t seen it, get out of the house and to your nearest movie theater!

My next two signings are in March. I have Kinky in Kansas City on March 4th, and Authors in the City in Raleigh, North Carolina on March 11th! The lineups are absolutely stellar! I’m already fangirling over the other authors attending each event. If I run into Laurelin Page and Sawyer Bennett and my other faves, I’ll tell you all about the awesomeness! Can’t wait! Hope to see you there!

In Love in the City news, like I said above, I’ve been working on Max and Whitley’s story. I know most of you are excited for Cash’s story, and I am too because he’s amazing. But I felt like I needed to give Max and Whitley a story. Remember how the Friends writers never gave Joey a proper happy ending romance? That’s how I feel about Max and Whitley. We all kind of hated Max in Fantasized By You when he kissed Harper! We all hated Whitley for a brief second in Cherished By You when Tessa thought she was doing Justin! Now, they’re getting their own story so we can fall in love with them because I believe they deserve a redeeming story; they deserve to be part of the Love in the City group. So, you’ll definitely get the whole LITC gang like always, and they’ll help Whitley and Max figure out love in Inspired By You.

Cash’s story will be last because I’ve saved the best for last. I know you’re saying to yourself, how can he be the last, the best, Steph? But you just wait. You’ve already met his woman in Challenged By You. I’m so excited to write his story, Changed By You, and wrap-up the Love in the City series in the best way possible. But the Love in the City world won’t end with Cash’s story. I’ve promised several readers spin-offs and I will deliver.

I’ve also plotted a new series, The Cutler Family Quartet. It will be a complete 180 from the Love in the City series, and I’m really excited to give you another group of characters to love. My cover designer starts working on their covers at the end of March! Be sure to join Nuss’ Navy to get the first exclusive look at the covers and the series as a whole.

Again, I’m so SORRY for being away for so long! I promise to post more often and keep you updated! Thank you for staying with me! I have some other awesome news I’ll be able to share Wednesday, March 1st! So stay tune! Remember to enter the Amazon gift card giveaway by commenting on this post with your email below! If you’re coming to the two signings I have left this year, come see me and my mom at my table! Happy reading!

Steph Nuss

Home Sweet Home

I recently had the opportunity to visit and explore the city my Love in the City gang calls home: New York City! I got invited to the Sexy in the City Author Event which took place on May 30th, but I made a trip out of if by flying in on Wednesday, May 27th, and doing a little book research. It’s just as big and crowded and overwhelming as I thought it would be, but I came back to Kansas with a better grasp on the city and its people, which will definitely help me write the rest of the series. I stayed with my friend, Lauren, who is also the owner of CherryRed’s Reads. She lives in the Bronx and showed me the city in such a short period of time; I’m so grateful for her welcoming into her home and taking the time to play tour guide for me! The city was a huge eye-opener for me, since I come from a place where we’re able to see for miles in any direction. In New York City, that’s just not possible. Everything is a buzz. The people always seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere or do something, but they’re nicer than most people make them out to be. I came to New York thinking the locals would easily spot me as a foreigner and maybe even tell me to get the hell out of their way, but that never happened. I was welcomed with opened arms and patience. While there are taxis and Uber that are used by many, lots of locals use the subway and everyone walks everywhere! As a girl who is used to driving and doesn’t handle roller coasters well, I couldn’t stomach the subway. The whiplash that ensued as the train stopped and started so quickly at each station made me so nauseous, I paid for us to use Uber and it was totally worth it. But I’m still glad I walked away saying I rode the subway because that’s something we don’t have here in Kansas. However, it made me appreciate my ’98 Chevy Monte Carlo just that much more. I could never give up driving my own car, but I totally commend those people who can drive in NYC! It takes a certain set of stealthy skills and a few foul phrases for a person to master driving in the city, which made transportation even more entertaining as our friends, Heather and Jeremy and Kelly, navigated us through the city! Kudos to all of you who drive in the city and whose stomachs can handle the subway! If I close my eyes and listen closely, I can still hear the male automated voice telling all train passengers to, “Stand clear of the closing doors.” Like I said, it’s something I’m proud to say I did, but I will definitely stick to driving a car!

I’m so thankful I was able to be with friends who knew how to get around the city, who knew what to watch for and what to avoid, where all the city’s secrets lie (like the one in Grand Central Station) as well as all the city’s wonderful landmarks. New York City is full of history and beauty, and I truly believe it is a place everyone should experience at least once in their lives. I know if I would’ve been on my own, I wouldn’t have had the same experience or saw everything that I did.

New York pie (also known as pizza) totally ruined me for all other pizza! I had to fold this in half (hot dog style) to eat it, and every bite was so freaking delicious! I won’t be able to look at Pizza Hut the same.

NYCpizzaI also now understand why Ginnifer Goodwin and John Krasinski ate Shake Shack so much during Emily Giffin’s movie adaptation of her book, Something Borrowed. The food is absolutely to die for. I’d come back to NYC just for more Shake Shack.

NYCshakeshackThe Strand Bookstore is a book lover’s paradise (I spent $80 dollars there)! As in, they have huge, tall shelves full of books from not only traditionally published authors but also some self-published. It was money well spent since I purchased some of my favorite authors’ books and this awesome shirt:

NYCshirtFAO Schwarz, the oldest toy store in the US, the toy store known from movies such as Big and Home Alone 2, was so big and amazing; I couldn’t have walked out of there without buying something for my nieces and nephew. For more pictures from my time in the store and to see all the different sections they have, check out my Facebook profile. It’s closing in July 2015 due to high rent, so if you get the chance to go to NYC before then, definitely stop in FAO Schwarz.

NYCfaoThe Freedom Tower and the 9/11 Memorials were breathtakingly beautiful. It was the first memorial I’d ever visited that I could say I lived through when the historical event actually happened, so it touched me in more ways that I can describe. Lauren showed me the church fence where locals hung signs for their missing loved ones as well as a building that still had soot on it from the crashes. A nearby firehouse memorialized its fighters with a wall mural on the side of its building. The city and its people have definitely done a brilliant job at remembering those we lost on that tragic day, from family and friends to those who put their lives on the line to save others. It’s truly an area of New York people should take the time to visit and remember.

NYCfreedomNYCsouthOn Saturday, I had the joy of attending my first book signing as an author. The Sexy in the City Author Event took place at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Times Square. Times Square is just how it’s depicted on TV and movies: It’s lit bright and crowded and filled with all sorts of people from tourists to local entertainers dressed up (or hardly wearing anything). But back to the signing.

NYCsigningAs I found my table in the ballroom, I was in awe of the goodies our hosts provided us like the bag filled with snacks and essentials and the awesome wine glasses they personalized with our names. They thought of everything, and I really appreciated that! After I set up my table and banner, I took in my surroundings, checking out the other authors and feeling so incredibly grateful to be in the same room full of so much talent. My table was in between T. Torrest’s and Heidi McLaughlin’s, two of my favorite authors, and it was such a pleasure to finally meet them! They were so nice and made me feel so welcomed, and less like a small fish in a big pond! I also had the opportunity to meet the woman who encouraged me to pursue my dream of writing, Jennifer Probst. I cannot thank her enough for being such a great friend. She’s been so supportive of me from the very beginning. She’s always been there for me whenever I’ve had any problems on my journey as a writer. It was just another dream come true to have her in attendance at my first signing since she’s been such a huge influence on me and my books. She’s one of the many authors I look up to, and she’s so sweet and personable with not only her readers but also her fellow authors. That’s the type of writer we all should aspire to be, and I’m so happy to have her as a role model. I truly hope we get to attend another event together in the future!

All in all, I had a wonderful time in New York, and I would love to come back someday. But for now, I’m happy to be back in Kansas! I want to thank my friends for welcoming me to their side of the country and for showing me a fantastic time, even though I’m such a pussy when it comes to the subway! I also want to thank the Sexy in the City hosts and their crew for inviting me to the event and making it such a success. Lastly, I want to thank all of the readers who stopped by my table on Saturday. I had so much fun chatting with all of you, and I hope you had as much fun as I did at the signing. You made my first signing a success in my eyes just by coming to see me, and I truly hope I get to come back for another signing in the future. A few of my Nuss’ Navy members got to meet one another at the signing, and I totally loved introducing you to each other! If you’d like to join my Navy, click here! I wouldn’t be able to do what I do without readers, so THANK YOU!

Steph
